Tyrosine: Amino Acid for Essential Body Proteins
Building Block for Adrenaline, Thyroid Hormones, and Neurotransmitters
The amino acid tyrosine (L-tyrosine) is used by the body to build proteins. These are not only found in muscles – many hormones and neurotransmitters are also protein-based. The body uses tyrosine, among other things, to produce the activating hormones adrenaline and noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, and dopamine – an important neurotransmitter in the brain.
