Longevity: grow old healthily - our new supplements
Living longer, but healthier too, please: longevity is one of the major issues of our time. The major advances in research suggest that it will also be a very long-lasting topic that is much more than just a trend.
FormMed is meeting this challenge with four innovative new products of scientific quality - two of which are part of our new Age-in-form® line. However, there are also preparations in our existing portfolio that are useful in this context.
We have summarised these products for you here. And we will tell you how you can slow down the molecular ageing process yourself with your lifestyle.

Definition: what does longevity mean?
Longevity describes measures aimed at maintaining health in old age for as long as possible. Modern longevity research is therefore not just about stopping the ageing process, but rather about growing old healthily.‘Healthspan’ vs. ‘Lifespan’ - why a long life is not everything
Medical progress means that diseases can be recognised earlier and treated better. As a result, the average lifespan has increased significantly.
However, the healthspan often lags far behind: on average, we suffer from chronic illnesses, physical limitations or mental decline in the last eleven years of our lives.
Important when it comes to longevity: diet and lifestyle
It is not only our genes that determine how quickly we age - environmental factors also largely influence whether we grow old healthily. A balanced lifestyle can help to slow down the ageing process at a molecular level.
- Optimal nutrient supply: A diet rich in micronutrients supports cell protection, regeneration and energy production. If it is not possible to fulfil the requirements, a high-quality dietary supplement can be useful.
- Regular exercise: Sport keeps muscles, joints and the cardiovascular system fit. Even moderate exercise such as walking, yoga or cycling can slow down the ageing process.
- Mental fitness: Mental activity through learning, socialising and stress management helps to keep the brain fit into old age.
- Restful sleep: The body and mind regenerate during sleep. Sufficient sleep promotes cell repair and strengthens the immune system.
News from longevity research
When it comes to longevity, scientists are not only looking at the question of the right diet, but are also researching whether targeted substances as food supplements can influence healthy ageing.
Examples include nicotinamide riboside, a derivative of vitamin B3, alpha-ketoglutarate, PQQ (pyrroloquinoline quinone), betaine, spermidine and numerous other secondary plant substances such as quercetin and resveratrol.
