Was bedeutet liposomal?

The term ‘liposomal’ refers to a special technology that improves the bioavailability of vitamins and the like - i.e. the amount that actually reaches the body. Micronutrients are packaged in tiny spherical liposomes. Liposomes are special vesicles made of fats, so-called phospholipids.

The special thing about them is that phospholipids form a special double membrane due to their chemical properties as fat. This has a fat-soluble part on the outside and a water-soluble part on the inside. This means that liposomes can absorb both fat-soluble and water-soluble substances and transport them in the body.

Optimum absorption in the intestine thanks to liposomes

As liposomes are similar in structure to the human cell membrane, they fuse directly with it. In this way, liposomes can release the ingredients from micronutrient preparations directly into the cell. Liposomes are also used in medicine for medications.

The body also utilises these processes naturally - for example, when poorly soluble substances from the diet are to be absorbed in the intestine and transported to the cell in the blood.

Another advantage: liposomes have a protective effect

As liposomes enclose substances, they protect micronutrients from aggressive stomach acid and digestive enzymes. On the other hand, irritating micronutrients such as iron or curcumin do not come into direct contact with the stomach and intestinal mucosa through the liposomes.
